Does anyone know what is happening at the Bothell business park, the one just north of 228th St SE? The pond, which is home to many species of waterfowl, birds, cattails and who know what else is almost completely drained of water. I have been walking there for 10 years and never seen it like this, a mudflat now. The ducks are all standing in mud, a kingfisher was trying to fish in 4 inches of water and seagulls and crows are taking advantage of the newly uncovered food. Along the trail next to the pond is a big hole with caution tape around it where you can literally see all the water draining away. This area has flooded pretty severely in recent years during heavy rain and I hope that they are not trying to alter the water table. I have seen people report birds from this location here on Tweeters in the past and am hoping someone else has been there recently that might have info. This seems like an ecological disaster to be draining the wetland this time of year.
