Coming home on the 7:15pm Bainbridge - Seattle ferry today, there were several huge flocks of Bonaparte's Gulls exactly mid Sound. It was hard to estimate, but I think there were easily 1,000 of them. It was really exciting, and more than a bit sad as it sure seems like when I was growing up that sort of thing was quite common. But I'll take it!
