There have been a lot of fun birds in northwest Seattle recently. Here are
some of the highlights from my yard and down the street at Carkeek Park:

Snow Goose - 4 flying north past Carkeek 4/19
Greater White-fronted Goose - a flock heard from my yard on 4/12 and 65
there on 4/13, two flocks totaling 72 birds over Carkeek on 4/17, 9 more on
4/19
Cackling Goose - a flock of 53 over my yard on 4/14, flocks of 80, 62, and
135 at Carkeek on 4/16, 4/19 and 4/20
Vaux's Swift - 1 flying north over Carkeek and 3 over my yard on 4/19.
Despite looking for them in both spring and fall migration since 2018, this
was my first Carkeek sighting!
SANDHILL CRANE - 1 heard from my yard on 4/13
Black-bellied Plover - 2 flying north past Carkeek on 4/19
Whimbrel - 1 flying north past Carkeek on 4/13
SWAINSON'S HAWK - 1 flying north over Carkeek on 4/19

OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER - 1 very early bird at Carkeek on 4/18, the first
time I've seen the species in Washington in April

Hammond's Flycatcher - 2 at Carkeek on 4/18
Townsend's Solitaire - 1 flying north over Carkeek on 4/17, 1 hanging out
at the top of the Viewlands Trail in Carkeek on 4/18 (still there 4/19)

Good birding,
