I was surprised to easily refind yesterday's star entrant on the yardlist about 5 minutes ago (9:30.).
I am reluctant to encourage quarantine-bending behavior, but this bird's favored food source and this morning's perch are easily visible from a single parking spot on our dead-end road, so avid county listers may want to try for it. If so, find the report on eBird (the only red teardrop anywhere near Seattle) for the location. Past my driveway (the last one on left before powerline cut) and a laurel hedge is a gate on left with room to park ONE car safely off the narrow road. Said narrow road is my neighbors' only access to their houses, so please respect! The apple tree (the only one with abundant pinkish blooms) will be in clear view. The dying hazelnut overhanging the road is where he's perched right now, but he also uses the other visible hazelnut and adjacent lilac. If you familiarize yourself with his calls first, he'll be easier to find. The feisty Anna's that keeps trying to chase him off may also clue you in to the Calliope's whereabouts.
