Hey Tweets...those of you who have participated in the Grays Harbor CBC are
aware of my dismay over the loss of band-tailed pigeons here in Ocean
Shores. This morning I was thrilled to find ONE in my yard, taking
advantage of the bird seed I scatter under and around the birdbath. I had
time to run upstairs, grab my new bins (Thanks, Jim!) and focus on the bird
as it calmly shared space with a Douglas Squirrel. I think a platform
feeder is now needed...I hope, I hope, I hope.
It feels very strange to see the shorebirds move en mass at the tidal
changes from the inner bay out to the beaches and back, and not be able to
drive out there and look. My home is close to one of the beach accesses so
they often fly right over my property, and I can hear the rush of their
wings.
Other than that, I am glued to my computer watching the web cams of
explore.org. New babies!! Including a California Condor hatched overnight
in a redwood tree at Big Sur and an unknown number of Great Grey Owl babies
also in a tree in Montana.

The condor cam shuts down at dark but most of the others have infra-red
lighting and sound so listening to the other birds is often an interesting
time too.
Good birding...
