Louise and I were at the south part of Discovery Park earlier this
morning and by the sandy area overlooking the Sound we saw a
White-crowned sparrow with a much larger juvenile Brown-headed cowbird
right next to it making food begging moves. They flew together to 2
other nearby low perches with the cowbird staying very close - often
touching the sparrow - before we lost sight of them. So brood parasitism
- a first for us both. Posting this in case anyone else has a chance to
see them - as I am sorry I did not post seeing the Northern harriers the
day we saw them so others might have seen them also.
