Got some photos of a very bedraggled looking juvenile in the area near
trailhead for Larry Scott Trail in Port Townsend. It was able to fly but
didn't much, sat down in gravel just inside parking lot. The strange
thing was, although mottled as a youngun, it has a strong pale pink bill
with a black tip. I am a barely knowledgeable birder (my wife Pat is the
expert but was in Seattle today) so I went through every gull in Sibley,
came up wit possibility that it is a Glaucous Wing x Glaucous Gull
hybrid. I am out of my league! Posted under seabirds on my website is
anyone can help ID this please do!
