An adult GCRF was being followed around by 5 juveniles actively foraging on seeds in grass that had been revealed by the snowmelt. They were at the edge of a smallish snow patch along the road from Heather Meadows to Artist Point. The little snow that was left on the road and some rocks were being removed by noisy equipment on the way down. Let's hope for the road to open to Artist Point soon.

Other birds of interest along the walk were:
Band-tailed Pigeon (4) flyover
Northern Pygmy-Owl (1) seen and heard calling
Canada Jay (1)
Evening Grosbeak (11) flyover

We arrived about 11pm the night before and spent the time in the back of our pickup looking to the sky watching shooting stars. About a dozen were seen before some clouds/fog rolled in and the moon became too bright. All in all a great evening/day. I'm more the afternoon birder type and it was very unusual for me to see the sun come up and get just a couple hours sleep.
