Another opportunity took me past Smith Island yesterday. It was not specifically a birding trip so my documentation is not as complete as I would have liked.
Among the 6-7 Tufted Puffins, we found the one continuing Horned Puffin at the edge of the kelp beds.
There was also one sighting of a Tufted Puffin carrying a beakful of forage fish toward the island. Let us hope it successfully raises a fledgling.

The number of Common Murre seems to be increasing again in the general area as well.
Eight Marbled Murrelets were seen in 4 pairs not far from each other.
Good numbers of Heerman's Gulls.
Four Red-necked Phalarope
