Mark Ahlness and I were driving nw on 599 today, and I saw something large
and white on the far shore, just east of the Hamm Creek/City Light Duwamish
Substation. We got off the highway, and parked for a minute at a
no-parking pull-off, and saw that the bird was a Great Egret.

We walked down to the Duwamish shore from the Hamm Creek access, and the
bird flew north, toward the Delta plant and the sandbar on the east shore
where it joined a group of Caspian Terns, Gulls, and Cormorants. It was
still preening when we left.

The bird seems to be moving toward the sound, so keep an eye out for it if
you go to any of the Duwamish access points. This was a first for us in
Seattle. Adventures in Covid birding near home! Crappy pictures were
taken.
