Here on the Olympic Peninsula, I am regularly spoofed by another trickster - the Steller's Jay.
One of our jays often perches concealed, high in a fir and belts out the shrill "keeee-r-r-r-r" of the Red-tailed hawk. After 10 or 15 seconds of craning my head, reaching for the bins, and searching for the Red-tail, I usually remember the jay, and can find it up there chuckling at me until it almost falls out of the tree.

Did I mention that the Barred Owl frequently questions our meal preparation?
