Hello, tweets.

We recently piled up some brush (terminal branches pruned from trees and shrubs) under one of our feeders that was out in the open in the back yard, and the birds love it. A lot more birds are feeding there now than when it was open grass. They probably feel more secure, and as we have not infrequent cat visits, they probably are more secure. I would recommend this highly.

You can also create brush piles that aren't under feeders, and the birds seem to like those as well. Also, you could sprinkle seeds there from time to time to reward them for foraging there.
