If anyone wants to learn more about swan ID or to brush up on ID you can
find more information on our website: www.nwswans.org
You will find a Swan ID brochure to download. This is an updated
version. Print it out and put it in your field guide for reference.

It is common to find mixed flocks, even if predominated by one species or
the other, especially in the Skagit, Snohomish and King county areas. Today
I was out at a lake near Carnation that has consistently had about 300
Trumpeter Swans there all the time, day and night. And yet, if I listen
carefully I hear the voice of at least 1 or 2 tundra swans. Upon closer
look I did find the pair.
There are definitely mixed flocks in the Marsh Rd area near Snohomish.

Never make an assumption about ID, birds have a way of keeping us humble.
