Hi Tweets,

I have seen Black Squirrels in Nebraska and White Squirrels in Illinois. The blacks are variations of Fox Squirrels and
the whites are descendants of albino Eastern Gray Squirrels. To me, your squirrel looks like a Gray Squirrel but this is only
a guess and should not be taken seriously.

For some reason, I never got the original message. Strange. I've never seen a squirrel like this one. Still, except for the black, the other coloration seems close to Douglas Squirrel, perhaps Fox Squirrel. Any hints on whether the size was closer to that of Douglas Squirrel or more like an Eastern Gray Squirrel.

I spent most of the first 60 years of my life in the East, 50+ in northern Virginia. by body shape, tail shape, ears & face, I would say Eastern Grey Squirrel. and they often come in a black phase, I had a family of the black phase living in my yard for most of a decade. But the bronze sheen on the body and face are something I've never seen in the black phase. the normal grey phase usually has some orangish tones in the face and along the sides where this squirrel shows the bronze sheen, but this is more pronounced than I've ever seen.
