I went down to Gene Coulon Park in Renton this morning. At 9:40 a.m. there
were no gulls there, but it appeared to be some at the Cedar River mouth. I
went around and there was a decent sized flock and a quick scan didn't show
the Glaucous, but then they all lifted off.



I went back to Gene Coulon and a large flock of gulls was there. I scanned
thru the flock and at 10:40 I found the Glacous Gull. I perched nicely near
the south end of the log boom as viewed from the fire pit north of Ivar's. A
larger gull than the others, pale with pale primaries and the classic
bi-colored bill - the dark tip very prominent and with a sharp cutoff. After
a few minutes it dropped off the log-boom (in reality large pipes) and swam
around for a bit. I finally hopped up on the boom again, and was still there
when I left at about 1050.



Also present were Glaucous-winged, Ring-billed, Mew and California gulls,
Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser, and a large, tightly knit flock of
American Coots. Many Double-crested Cormorants were scattered about.



A nice, but chilly, look.
