I have just learned from a good friend and former colleague about a
wonderful event coming up on Sunday, March 15th.  The University of
Hawai'i Wind Ensemble is performing a free concert of the "Symphony of
the Hawaiian Birds"  at the Performing Arts Center at Bellevue High
School.  This symphony was composed in collaboration with
ornithologists, musicians, educators and a variety of artists with the
purpose of educating and inspiring young Hawaiian students about
Hawaiian birds and about helping to preserve the remaining species.  An
entire integrated curriculum was developed around this theme and the
music.  The performance is both the symphony and the multimedia
presentation accompanying the music. To give you a taste of what you'll
see and hear, here is a link to a short video about the
multi-disciplinary approach to creating the symphony, as well as other
links related to the symphony and Hawaiian birds:

The Bellevue High School Performing Arts Center is located at 10416 SE
Wolverine Way, Bellevue, WA.  The social mixer starts at 6:00pm and the
performance starts at 7:00pm.  See you there!
