Hi tweeters,
I'm amazed/stunned to say that today (2/28/2020) I witnessed a nearly
identical scene off Alki as I saw earlier this week. A little after 3:20pm
I spotted a Northern Fulmar flying south over the Sound. I was excited to
get to actually watch one this time, but a couple minutes later an adult
Balk Eagle was trying to catch it, eventually succeeding.
Again, the eagle flew with the fulmar in it's talons towards the Alki south
beach, but this time when I found the perching eagle it no longer had the
fulmar. Maybe it dropped it while it was out of view? I can't imagine the
fulmar survived.
Some bad photos are in my ebird checklist:

Good birding,
