Yesterday I was expecting to wake up to a chorus of new year birds on Tweeters - it used to be a thing. A list of the first bird or birds you saw in the new year! I was a little sad when for some reason this year it didn't happen, other than the usual rare bird sightings.

So to offer my humble first, I had a Spotted Towhee as my first bird of 2020. It was very quiet out when I got up, but later there was quite a commotion around my feeders. This one fat Spotted Towhee made me smile because he was happily splashing away in my birdbath, while all the other birds were focusing on the food.

I'd love to hear any good stories that you have.

Happy New Year!!
