Tweets,

Today 22 of us had a pretty good day at Nisqually. It was dry but
breezy, with the temps in the low 40s. It really got cold out on the
estuary dike and boardwalk. We had a 13.2 high tide at 2:42 PM.

Highlights included 10 TRUMPETER SWANS and 27 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.
The SWANS flew up McAllister Creek and the DOWITCHERS were in the
field behind the twin barns observation deck.

Needless to say, water levels were high and there were lots of waterfowl about.
On McAllister Creek we had HOODED and RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and
there were 8 COMMON MERGANSERS on the Nisqually River.

It seemed like there was a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW convention going on
as they were everywhere. We also had several FOX SPARROWS.

For the day I had 46 species. The ebird report will include anything
seen out on the estuary dike and will be more complete.

Mammals seen were HARBOR SEAL and GRAY SQUIRREL.

Until next week....
