Today Rachel Hudson and I gave Pacific County a "go" before I go back to Montana. It was a pretty incredible day! We ended daylight hours with 87 species and over 15,000 species included on checklists. That does not include thousands of birds seen in transit from location to location.
Highlights:
Female BLACK SCOTER on Fisher Ave in Tokeland. She was nearly feeding on shore!
2 BLACK TURNSTONES with the regular shorebirds on Graveyard Spit in Tokeland
19 WILLET with the Marbleds at the Tokeland Marina
Juvenile RED-SHOULDERED HAWK continues at Potter's Slough
BLACK PHOEBE continues at Carruthers Slough
3 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE amongst the thousands of Dusky Canadas and Cackling Geese.
6 SNOW GEESE on Dike Road near Bay Center
51! I repeat! 51! Anna's Hummingbirds coming to one feeding station in Bay Center. There are absolutely no words for the spectacle that was witnessed. AMAZING!!!!!!
2,300 BRANT were counted from two locations. Rhodesia Beach in Bay Center and the Bruceville-Bruceport overlook. Another amazing happening.
Definently a day to remember!
