I have a heated hummingbird feeder on my balcony, which at least two hummers are using. One has been spending hours perched on the electrical cord running from the feeder to the outlet, occasionally rising to drink or chase away an approaching hummer. He seems alert and often twitchy while perched there. Does this suggest he's not in torpor?
