we scouted Scotch Creek, Conconully, McLaughlin Canyon Road, and Mary Ann
Creek Road and area today. Many Rough-legged Hawks and Red-tailed Hawks.

Riverside cut-off to Conconully Road was good for Chukar, we observed a
juvenile Northern Goshawk on the east side near where the bridge crosses
over the marsh to the south, during the late morning.

Conconully Road was good for Gray Partridge, especially near cattle
scrapings. The Scotch Creek Wildlife area had 16 Sharp-Tailed Grouse, 2
Great Horned Owl and a fly over of a single Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch near
Happy Hill Road.

We picked up Golden Eagle, Pygmy Nuthatch, Mountain Chickadee, Northern
Pygmy Owl, Hairy Woodpecker, Red Crossbills, Ruffed Grouse, two Pine
Grosbeaks and many Wild Turkey in Conconully. We may have also heard a
White-headed Woodpecker at the south east side of town south of the State
Park.

McLaughlin Canyon Road had Chukar and a possible Harlan's Hawk.

Mary Ann Creek Road was quiet but we did manage to see two Northern Pygmy
Owls and many Mountain Chickadee. On the south end of Davies a flock of
100 Snow Buntings flew over in late afternoon.

On Chesaw Road, just east of the junction with Hungry-Hollow Road, we
observed a Long Eared Owl on a fence post north side of the road around 5pm.

Birds require work to find, quiet times and sporadically exciting times,
pretty typical winter birding. Lots of sightings you typically see at any
other time of the year.
