Western Screech Owls are definitely around the area. I heard one in our yard here in Seahurst (Burien) late last winter. They are losing ground to the Barred Owl.

The Western Screech Owl has a distinctive "bouncing ball" call/song. I dunno whether it's like a 1990's office phone ringer though.;)
