Linda, I'd be happy to see if I could identify it. It sounds like a Cinebar
moth. They lay their eggs on Tansy Ragwort and the caterpillars are yellow
and black striped.

Subject: [Tweeters] OFF TOPIC butterfly question
On May 27th I saw a red and black (or brown) butterfly or moth. I've never
seen a red butterfly before. I was walking a trail in Bothell. I took a
video but the butterfly is only in it for about 1 second. It was about the
size of a cabbage butterfly upper wings dark, lower wings red. I found some
similar images on the internet but they are all from the UK. Are there any
butterfly fanciers on Tweeters who know what I might have seen. I can send
the video to anyone who wants to take a look.
