This morning, Tracy and I found a Black-and-white Warbler along the Beaver
Pond trail at Sun Mountain, Winthrop, Okanogan Co. It was approximately
straight across the pond from the trail head.

We first heard its high, squeaky dee-do-dee-do-dee-do song, and then we
found the bird just 15 feet off the trail in a thin aspen.

Got good looks. Stefan Schlick happened to be just behind us on the trail
with a friend, and all four of us got looks.

A little further on, Stefan noticed a Least Flycatcher making infrequent
calls. Continuing around the loop, we found a juvenile Great Horned Owl
making a call like the muffled bark of a bark. Earlier, we'd had a
Williamson's Sapsucker. There were also more Red-naped Sapsuckers than
I've ever seen in one place.

Made for a great morning.
