Hello Tweets,
Although publishing vignettes of my birding experiences doesn't happen often,
Today's event "forces " me to do so.
We were in the highlands looking for snow buntings among other birds and
Here is the story.-
We saw about 7 on Hungry hollow road near some munching cattle.
This was based on a prior report.
Then we Drove to TEAS road where someone had reported seeing 600 snow buntings.
We saw at least 300 there flying everywhere, landing on the
Ground, a big tree and en masse on the electric wires.
Purely amazing.
Eventually we stopped in Havillah for rough legged Hawk and Mountain
Bluebird.
Then we saw it- a mass of buntings flying like shorebirds Or starling
murmurations. I guessed at 500 birds but could have been many more.
In ebird I posted pictures from both places hoping to capture a bit of the spectacle.
Not sure if anyone else has witnessed something like this.
Would love to hear .
(I've been happy to see one snow bunting in Washington.).

Thanks for reading and good birding,
Maxine Reid
