Hello all from College Place (bedroom community west side of Walla Walla),

This morning I was checking our feeders in the cold and snow flurries -
thinking that this weather might bring something different to the
feeders - and sure enough a Common Redpoll was on a thistle sock. The
last one in our yard was March of 2012. The last one in the county was 2
years ago.

While looking for the Redpoll RJ watched a Turkey Vulture fly over our yard.

Our friends in Walla Walla had a VESPER SPARROW at their feeder - and we
found another VESPER SPARROW up on Luckenbill Rd - had stopped to report
a burning haystack (no one around) and were surprised to see this early
bird on the road.

At McNary HQ today many swallows were over the ponds - Tree and
Violet-green - and had our FOY Least Sandpipers there as well.

Birding - the hobby no virus can stop! MerryLynn
