Tweets -; they are apparently not usually very common here, but I had a flock of SNOW GEESE that I estimated at 8000 today at the Mesa Lake wildlife area near Mesa. There were also probably 2000 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE there. Late in the afternoon, Snow Geese came over Scooteney Park and landed in a field to the SE (just east of SR-17), possibly some of the birds from Mesa.

Lots of SANDHILL CRANES around Scooteney as well.

Saw probably a dozen or more WESTERN BLUEBIRDS today, all or almost all males. Only a couple of SAY'S PHOEBES however, and both of the shrikes I saw were still NORTHERN SHRIKES.
