Subject: [Tweeters] American Avocets Leque Island - Edie Road (No) but another Rarity

Greetings,

Around 9:45 the sun appeared on Camano. I opted to head back over to Edie
Road in search of the American Avocets after two failed attempts yesterday.
Using the 3 times a charm rule, I had high hopes.

While wading for the Avocets (pun intended), at around 10:22 a.m. a small
group of American White Pelicans flew over the dike heading NE just as the
rains began. With camera in backpack, I was able to quickly nab a few images
which are attached in my ebird report below.

The rains came and went several times until about 11:30 a.m. when the down
pours began on a continuum.

As a final note, approximately 20 Semipalmated Sandpipers (SEMI) came in
close along the dike (likely more, perhaps 25, but eBird flagged the 25
count). SEMI images are included as well.

Though the days of raptors at this location may wane for while (hoping it
will eventually become as raptor successful as Hayton), the shorebirds and
waterfowl may have likely found a new home

It was also good to see a few birding friends today (at a distance).

Happy Birding,

Anthony G.
