I birded Umptanum rd to Wenas Lake on Friday.Although it's nice for a change to see birds that aren't so common on the West side I was noticing the lack of flocks of birds. Even Quail were only seen in ones. Cassins Finches just 2.No flocks of Finches. Am Goldfinch 1. I male harrier,  1 Wilson's Warbler, 1 Bullocks Oriole, 1 McGilvries Warbler. And so on. Saw 1 male and 1 female turkey together with the male in full display mode. No short eared owls, 2 young Kestrels, 1 male Harrier. Missed on Lewis's Woodpecker, Sage Thrasher, Sage Sparrow, Saye's Phoebe. No Nuthatches although I heard some. No Yellow-breasted Chat. A mixed bag of birds but none in large numbers. Mountain and Western Bluebirds seemed to be normal and Brewer's Sparrows well spread out . Nothing on Wenas lake and as it was high no shore birds.Still. Fridays weather was lovely and what was in abundance was the constant humming of busy bees.
