Tweeters,

On our way home from Magnuson park this morning we found a begging
Common Raven fledgling along the Burke Gilman Trail at NE 60th St,
getting mobbed by a tree full of crows. The word "fledgling" seems odd
to use to describe such a beast, but that's what it was, the largest
passerine fledgling in the world. It was giving the characteristic
raven begging call and had a pronounced pink gape line and pink roof
of the mouth. There were a lot of people on the trail so we didn't
stay long enough to observe any adults and/or siblings, but it's at
least proof that ravens are successfully nesting somewhere in the
area.
