Hello all,
A quick stop at the Walla Walla River delta this am was worth it - even
though we spent a few hours there yesterday! Lots of mud, many birds
including Walla Walla County 3rd record of SNOWY PLOVER. Also present
were 2 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 58 WHITE-FACED
IBIS, 5 WILSON'S PHALAROPE, 1 Bonaparte's Gull in breeding plumage, 10
FRANKLIN'S GULLS, lots of Avocets, Stilts, Cinnamon Teal - and more.
A brief look at a probable WAGTAIL clear out on the far delta was
intriguing - too far for photo - but pipit-like bird except all white
below with black in tail - acting like a pipit - bobbing around out there.
Fun morning - also had 2 SANDERLINGS, 2 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS at the
south end of 2Rivers HMU. FORSTER'S TERNS were flying all over.
Green-tailed Towhees were found yesterday up Biscuit Ridge - summer is
here! But 51 Snow Geese still hanging out north of Casey pond.
Happy Mothers Day birding, MerryLynn
