1. A couple of days ago an Anna's Hummingbird was using a rhododendron leaf outside our kitchen as a bathing spot. The leaf was curved so that it retained rainwater. Wish I had my camera!

2. Yesterday Karen and I were parked near Sikes Lake having lunch. We had a view of the Snoqualmie River. I saw activity in the river. Using my binocs thinking that I would see birds, I was shocked to see what I thought was a Harbor Seal. It dove and resurfaced. Karen saw it also and agreed with my ID. Unfortunately I didn't get a worthwhile photo. Later I read that Harbor Seals do swim far up rivers in search of food.

3. On Wednesday we took a day trip to the Skagit Valley. We obtained a close-up photo of a Northern Harrier. Only when we got home did I realize it had been tagged. For what it is worth, here is a photo with the tag visible.

We also saw nesting Black Phoebes and nesting Downy Woodpeckers at Wiley Slough. Here is the photo album for the trip.
