One correction, Josh noted it was Lauren Kottwitz who detected the bird originally, as per his message below. Sorry about that Lauren!

Josh Adams' Yellow-breasted Chat was present real early this morn. Recalling five total records (I believe) for nearby Skagit County going back 4-5 decades, I recall the earliest was the Bacon Creek bird during a June 3-10 stretch. So Josh's bird is very early and much more accommodatingly right in the open than any of the Skagit County records. You can hear the awesome song long before you get to the bird, as with YB Chat generally.

Three cheers for Josh! A great find indeed. I had not been on this trail in ages, and it was in better shape than expected.

Also--two FOS/FOY Willow Flycatchers, singing, also earlier than usual but not as dramatically. I note Joe Sweeney photographed Black Swifts at his place the first week of May, another very impressive early arrival. Black Swift FOS/FOY is usually after May 20, some years, at some sites, like Willow Flycatcher--not until after June 1.
