I'm sending out what I think is a bizarre sighting before I put it on eBird tomorrow.

This morning at about 10:10, as my wife and I were having brunch, I saw a wren atop one of our boulders outside the French doors of our breakfast nook. My first thought was that this was not a House Wren (of which we have something like four or five pairs around our property). Nor was it a Bewick's Wren. This wren was chunky, white-breasted (unstreaked), and much larger than either House or Bewick's Wren. The tail was held straight back during the entire sighting (no big deal, but quite unlike a Bewick's). Decurved bill, very slight eyebrow line, and faint spots on the back. The trigger was the bouncing up and down almost constantly while it was in one spot. It went from the boulder to our rock wall and stayed briefly and flew down below sight level, then back up. It always bounced up and down while in one spot. It stayed on the rock wall for a bit, so I ran to get a camera - unfortunately, the camera battery was dead!! When I got back and attempted to get a shot (finding the dead battery), it flew back to the boulder and grabbed something from a moss patch, then back to the wall. It went along the wall for a bit to the south, bounced some more, then flew off to our dry creek. I hustled back to the bedroom to try to spot it, and then went out through the French doors there to try to see it, but could not relocate it.

It was definitely a Rock Wren - not an adult bird, which I think might have streaks on the breast.

I went out shortly thereafter and played a Rock Wren song and call, but no response.
