I think May is the best month for birding as migration is in full swing, some resident birds are already on their nests and birds are singing away.  COVID-19 has changed birding for all of us.  Less or no travel and probably more concentration on local patches.  Last May was a marathon for me - birding in 17 different states.  This year - Washington only and not as rigorously or vigorously as in years past.  But we are blessed to have a hobby/passion that takes us to safe places and rewards us with wonderful birds.  More than anything else, I miss being able to bird with others.  Soon I hope that will change.
Not as many blog posts as last year either.  This one notes the differences between May 2019 and May 2020 but celebrates that for birders, we can see our glasses as half full rather than half empty.
