Hi,

We are fortunate enough to observe a small community of Anna's hummingbirds coming-and-going at a feeder. They show little tolerance for each other, but it was an encounter of one with a small bee, colored like a yellow jacket but of a different species, that was most interesting. The bee was probably after some dried sugar water on one side of the feeder, and the hummingbird was partaking on the other side. Later, however, the bee apparently decided the hummingbird was not welcome and was successful in driving the bird away in spite of the obvious size difference! We observed the same encounter for a couple of days.
