Walked part of Larry Scott Trail which starts at Boat Haven in PT.
Coming back I spotted a bald eagle sitting at water's edge with
semicircle of crows in front of it, not acting out their customary
mobbing behavior. Also, there was a woman walking a miniature Dachsund
about 200 feet away, also at the water's edge. I called out to her that
her dog was possibly at risk (as small dogs have been snatched by
baldies over on RailRoad Bridge trail in Sequim.) Then, walking on the
trail, I made my way down to where I was just opposite the eagle, who
was not showing any concern, and got some photos. I leaned against a
post at the Boat Haven side of the trail, and watched for potential
"behavior shots" when I saw a muscle movement, started a rapid burst and
captured several images as it launched. It made a low pass over the dog,
then continued over to the glacial till bluffs, thence into a tree. I
talked to the owner of the Dachshund, who was a bit rattled by the
fly-by; she hadn't believed me until she saw the size and talons just
over her head!

The light level was not great, but I got passable pics. My site is
necessarily not very well organised; the eagle, unfortunately, is in a
