Tweets -; The weather reports called for a wet morning, which we escaped for the most part. We had some drops, and some drizzle, but always in fairly short showers. It was dark, though, and sometimes a touch windy, but the rain waited until after the survey. While we had little in the way of precipitation, we had little in the way of birds, too, especially before about 8:45 Good views were even harder to come up with. Things picked up in the East Meadow, Pea Patch, and Rowing Club.

Highlights:
a.. Wood Duck -; pretty pair at the Rowing Club
b.. Green-winged Teal -; three below the weir
c.. Mew Gull -; first large(ish) flock of fall, with about 20 on the grass soccer fields at 7:00
d.. Western Screech-Owl -; the early crew heard one, but no views. Our only owl
e.. Northern Shrike -; adult in the East Meadow
f.. Bushtit -; kept coming across flocks, some flocks possibly more than once. At least 30 total, but maybe many more
g.. Golden-crowned Kinglet -; almost as common (and as frequently seen) as the Bushtits
h.. Cedar Waxwing -; flock of about 8
i.. Pine Siskin -; MANY, seen many times. A couple of hundred at least
We had some very distant birds from the Lake Platform that looked to be diving ducks, so I did a late scan of the lake that turned out to be very rewarding. I again found a flock of diving birds, which turned out to be three Scaup sp., and ELEVEN CANVASBACK. The last time we had Canvasback on the Marymoor Survey was way back in 2005-11-16, and there are only three reports more recent than that on eBird.

I also had seven NORTHERN SHOVELER, and at least one HORNED GREBE.

Matt and Alan had several BATS this morning, pushing their occurrence even later into the fall. We also heard many PACIFIC TREE FROGS.

Misses included Rock Pigeon and Yellow-rumped Warbler.

For the day, including those late lake birds, 57 species -; far better than things looked early on.
