Hi Tweeters

I have a friend of a friend who is living in Texas on the family farm and
posted a story on social media regarding a Vulture circling over a cow
about to give birth. The story concluded with a picture of a dead vulture
which was shot. I told this person that they violated federal law killing
the bird without a permit. I also mentioned that I wouldn't think that
vultures wouldn't attack a calf and were probably just opportunistically
looking forward to remnants of the birth. Upon further reading apparently
there have been incidents of Black Vultures harming live calves and
birthing cows but not Turkey Vultures. Regardless of species (pretty sure
the dead bird was a TUVU) I wanted to see if anyone had any input on ways
to protect the cows on a large parcel of land safely? In addition if
anyone knows what authorities I can contact to report the killing so that,
at least, it would act as a deterrent from future killings.
