Subject: [Tweeters] Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches in Thurston County

I was out for my daily walk this morning, when I was abruptly but pleasantly
surprised by a pair of rosy-finches. I was walking the edge of a strip of
vacant land along Caddyshack Drive in the Meridian Campus neighborhood in NE
Lacey. Two birds flew up from the ground to land on a fence just a few feet
in front of me - and there they were. I followed them as they dropped back
down to the grass and gravel to feed - they allowed me to approach closely
and take some usable phone photos (E-bird report at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S76407804).

We went back to look for them an hour or so later, with no luck, but it was
pouring rain at that point. They might still be around.

This has been a great year for siskins and crossbills in the area, but I
wasn't expecting this!
