Hank,

Sorry to hear about the Pied-billed Grebe at Lords Lake with the fishing gear hanging from its mouth. I am unfamiliar with Lords Lake, but maybe the good people at PAWS or Sarvey Wildlife could help or at least give advice.

It breaks my heart to hear of birds or other animals caught in fishing line. Do you know if this is a private or public lake? If this lake is public, maybe the Monroe parks department would be of help. At least if they are aware of the problem, maybe they will install a fishing line recycling bin so that it reduces the risk of it happening again. Monofilament fishing line keeps on killing and it takes over 600 years to break down.

There are 7 Pied-billed Grebes in Lords Lake, a small lake in Monroe,WA. One grebe appears to have fishing gear hanging from its mouth with its mouth stuck open. I am posting in case anyone can help this bird.
