Hi Tweets,

We added four species in September to our Edmonds city year list, bringing the year total to 176.

A California Scrub-Jay (code 4) was in a waterfront yard on 9-6-20; two Baird's Sandpipers (code 3) were in the marsh on 9-10-20; a Common Tern (code 3) was seen flying by the public pier on 9-24-20, and another was at rest on an Underwater Park buoy the following day; and a flock of about 70 American White Pelicans (code 4) were seen from the waterfront flying southeast on 9-26-20.

Although added to the year list with earlier sightings, the following are of interest: American Pipit (code 3), one on the beach at Water Street on 9-9-20 and two at the marsh on 9-10-20; a Common Nighthawk (code 4) at rest for several hours on a homeowner's deck in early September; a Great Horned Owl (code 4) at Pine Ridge Park on 9-14-20 (first known sighting at this park).

I continue to be grateful to those of you who share your Edmonds sightings with me. It helps us keep an accurate track of our year birds and our rare birds. Thank you! If you would like a copy of our 2020 city checklist, please request it at checklistedmonds at gmail.com <mailto:checklistedmonds at gmail.com>.

Good birding,
