Hi Tweets. Precipitation and pandemic notwithstanding (cold wind too), the South Meadowhawk Team executed our "Big Sit!" on Sunday, Oct 11, 2020. Perched near the edge of Discovery Park's South Bluff for the 12th Annual (and consecutive) year, we identified 55 species in just over 7 hours, missing last year's high by two. This writer would nominate the distant Parasitic Jaeger seen in hot pursuit of a luckless gull sp. over Elliott Bay as the most notable find (KS). Proper "biologic separation" strategies were followed including mask use, and with some signage and even a try at on-line "virtual birding" (via zoom), it was possible to safely engage some of the puzzled public. Fittingly, our final bird seen was Seattle's Official City Bird, the Great Blue Heron. Huge thanks to KS and AG! Here's to next October and another dose of community science and (hopefully closer) camaraderie over birds!
