If you are out and about in this area, I'd appreciate any feedback on this "odd duck."
Sally Lawrence and I were out "social birding" from 8-12:30 this am at Lake Sammamish State Park, and had a solo mystery bird sitting on top of the far buoy line at Sunset Beach. It was a very duck, with a "Burnt Sienna" body and dark brown back, with a dull blue wing patch. Maybe a lonely Cinnamon Teal?
It was also my impression that this seemed to be a large duck, but that may be due to it resting on the buoy line, and not in the water. But it's even more unlikely to be an American Black Duck.
I checked ebird for this location, but can't find a good match among the observations. No camera this time, and bird too distant for decent cellphone image. Drat!
