A number of years ago I took a pontoon boat guided trip out on Lake
Huntingon, east of Fresno CA with about eight other people plus a Park
Service naturalist and a boat operator to watch eagles hunt on that
lake. There was one the Ranger called "Coot Killer" because that baldy
was specializing in taking coots by circling and forcing them to dive
evasively until they were exhausted, whereupon Coot Killer would pounce
when the tired coot resurfaced a little more slowly.
