A SLATY-BACKED GULL has returned for a 4th winter to the Columbia River in TriCities. The bird has been seen at the north end of Nelson Island (view from Leslie Groves Park at the end of Spirit Lane, Richland. Also present at the island have been a LESSER BLACK BACKED GULL and 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS.

A BLACK PHOEBE continues under the hwy 240 bridge accessible easiest from the end of Carrier Rd, Richland. 5 SURF SCOTERS are also visible from this access point in the flooded quarry lake along Carrier Rd.
