I just returned from the East Coast (Maryland), and saw large numbers of pine siskins there, too, Including a single flock of 120 to 150 birds. Maybe it's going to be a widespread irruption year?

While outside the house at about 10:30 this morning, three flocks of Pine Siskins totalling around 300 birds swirled around well above the house and then disappeared, perhaps startled by a deafening crack of thunder. I've seen no more than a few siskins all year until today.
