Dennis and Tweeters-
Not much more than an hour ago, I looked into our backyard and saw a cloud of birds, swirling everywhere. Probably a dozen or more landed on (and in) the birdbath, and only then could I identify them as pine siskins. They disappeared as suddenly as they had appeared. We've had a nice number of siskins all summer, but nothing like today's flock!

While outside the house at about 10:30 this morning, three flocks of Pine Siskins totalling around 300 birds swirled around well above the house and then disappeared, perhaps startled by a deafening crack of thunder. I've seen no more than a few siskins all year until today.
