Subject: [Tweeters] re varied thrush sighting

I saw at our (Orcas Island, the Highlands) feeder this morning a bird which
I identified as a varied thrush, but he had white rings around his eyes,
and his breast feathers looked ragged. All else was certainly Varied
Thrush--we see them occasionally here, and I've painted them.
I was thinking perhaps he was an older bird,or had a disease which caused
the white rings...
Haven't found any help from Cornell, et al.
Thank you,

Carol Owens
